A Bad-Tasting present

November 4th is my birthday. Some friends of mine gave me birthday presents. I felt so happy!! However one of them was astonishing for me,"SALMIAKKI". A crazy friend of mine bought it online, and it was sent from Finland to my house!

Salmiakki is traditional candy of north Europe. Its name means ”ammonium chloride” in Finnish.  I have known about the existence of this dark brown candy, because it is famous for its eccentric flavor. Some Japanese people call it "the most bad-tasting candy in the world". Let me be clear, many people in the world love this candy, but its flavor is just unfamiliar with most Japanese people.

I smelled at it for trial, but it was odorless. Then I ate a piece of the candy. It was so hard like rubber. And then... I was surprised at its strong salty taste(probably from ammonium chloride), and persistent sweetness, and nasty smell. Just when I get car sickness, I feel such a sensation.

The candy and I are probably not compatible, however there are still approximately 40 pieces of SALMIAKKI in the box...
