Artificial Photosynthesis
Do you know "artificial photosynthesis"?
"Photosynthesis" means a process to convert the energy of sunlight into chemical energy so that plants can make the most of the energy their activities and growth. The chemical energy is stored in the form of hydrocarbons, such as sugars(sucrose, starch, and so on), which are made from carbon dioxide(CO2) in the air and water by using sunlight energy. At the same time, oxygen is often released into the air as one of the by-products.
"Artificial photosynthesis" is, to put it simply, an attempt to reproduce plants' photosynthesis artificially. In other words, any experiments to capture and store the sunlight energy in a solar fuel can be regarded as artificial photosynthesis in a broad sense. Some scientists and engineers expect that, in the future, this technology can solve some global problems with which we are confronted. For example, this technology can produce solar fuels and hydrogen from sunlight energy and CO2 in the air, in theory. They will be able to play roles as clean energy sources and replacement for fossil fuels, which cause global warming.
I want to be a researcher in the future, but have yet to decide what field to specialize in. Artificial photosynthesis may be an object for me to study.
I'm sure that that technology will save the Earth!
返信削除Yeah, but this technology is still developing now. I expect the technology to save the Earth in the future.
削除I did not know about this technology. The technology looks difficult, but it looks interesting!
返信削除I don't know much about it now, either. I'll try to understand the process in detail through studying at college.
